McLaren — Rome

From €1,600 per day.

McLaren builds cars for people who understand that engineering is a form of expression. In Rome, we carry two open-top models — the 720S Spider and the Artura Spider — each representing a different chapter of Woking's philosophy, and both available from €1,600 per day. The 720S Spider is the established benchmark: a twin-turbo V8, rear-wheel drive, and a retractable hardtop that folds in under eleven seconds. It is a car designed around downforce and driver feedback, and it rewards a morning run on the A24 toward Tivoli or a longer push north along the A1 into Umbria. Narrow enough for Rome's tighter residential streets around Prati or Aventino, yet utterly composed at autostrada speed. The Artura Spider introduces McLaren's hybrid powertrain to the open-air format — a V6 paired with an electric motor, offering instant low-end torque and a quieter departure from your hotel at dawn. It is the more modern proposition, lighter on fuel, and particularly well-suited to a measured Castelli Romani loop through Frascati and along the SS218 above Lake Albano, where the volcanic hill roads demand precision rather than brute power. Both cars are spiders, both seat two, and both draw attention in a city that already knows a thing or two about design. But they are not interchangeable. The 720S is theatrical, its exhaust note unmistakable in a tunnel along the Lungotevere. The Artura is more restrained — a car you choose when the driving itself matters more than the announcement. Handover is arranged at Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino, or at your accommodation outside Rome's ZTL-restricted centro — the historic core is monitored by cameras, so we coordinate delivery to a practical point nearby. If you are arriving by high-speed rail at Termini, collection can be arranged within walking distance of the station. For clients considering a longer route — the Amalfi Coast via the A1 and SS163, or an overnight to Florence — both McLarens perform well on sustained motorway stretches. Be aware that the Amalfi road from Salerno is demanding and congested in July and August; an early start or an overnight stay in Positano makes the trip considerably more rewarding than a rushed return. Contact us to reserve either model, discuss deposit and insurance details, or ask about chauffeur-assisted transfers if you prefer to arrive at an event without navigating Rome's one-way systems yourself.
