Ferrari Purosangue — Rome
Ferrari's first four-door, four-seat production car rewrites the rules for what a Prancing Horse can do on a family itinerary — or a week-long business programme that stretches well beyond the city limits. The 2024 Purosangue sits in a category of one. It is not an SUV in the conventional sense; Ferrari calls it an FUV, and the distinction matters. The naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 — shared with the 812 Competizione lineage — delivers its power through a mid-front layout and rear transaxle, which means the weight balance feels nothing like a tall wagon and everything like a grand touring car that happens to seat four adults in real comfort. Rear-hinged coach doors open wide for graceful entry, and the rear passengers get individual seats, not a bench. For a Rome rental, that architecture translates into genuine versatility. Load luggage for a multi-day Amalfi Coast run — the A1 south toward Naples, then the demanding SS163 — and the Purosangue's adaptive suspension and all-wheel drive absorb the surface changes that would rattle a lower-slung supercar. Start early from your hotel in Prati or EUR, clear the autostrada before midday heat, and arrive at Ravello or Positano with energy to spare. An overnight stay on the coast is strongly recommended; attempting the return in a single day turns a pleasure drive into a logistics exercise. Closer to Rome, the Purosangue is equally well-suited to a half-day loop through the Castelli Romani — SS218 past Frascati and Marino, volcanic hill roads with views over Lake Albano — where narrower lanes still accommodate its footprint more comfortably than a full-size SUV. Tivoli's Villa d'Este is barely 30 km east on the A24, ideal as a morning excursion before afternoon traffic thickens. Handover is arranged at Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino, or a hotel outside the ZTL-restricted historic centre — Rome's camera-enforced zones make kerbside delivery in the centro impractical for any vehicle, and the Purosangue deserves a proper introduction rather than a rushed street exchange. One variant is available in the current fleet. Daily rates begin at €3,100 — a figure that reflects what is, for now, the only V12-powered four-seat Ferrari in production. For clients travelling with a partner or small group who refuse to compromise on engine character for the sake of rear legroom, no other car in our catalogue occupies this space.
